Areas of Focus

A brain injury can be life-altering, bringing changes in mood, behaviour, cognition, communication, and identity. Recovery is rarely linear, and the emotional toll can be just as significant as the physical. Whether you are recovering personally or supporting someone you love, I provide a supportive space to process these changes, develop coping strategies, and strengthen your relationships.

Depression can feel heavy and all-encompassing with persistent sadness, low energy, loss of motivation, disrupted sleep, and a disconnection from yourself and others. It often comes with self-critical thoughts and a sense of hopelessness that makes it hard to see a way forward. Therapy can help you make sense of these feelings, gently rebuild momentum, and find meaningful steps toward feeling more connected and engaged in your life.

EMDR is a highly effective, evidence-based therapy that uses bilateral stimulation (such as alternating sound or tactile pulsers) to help the brain reprocess traumatic memories. Rather than remaining "stuck," distressing memories are processed so that the emotions and physical sensations attached to them can dissipate. EMDR is the most widely researched trauma treatment available, and is effective for PTSD, complicated grief, anxiety, phobias, depression, chronic pain, disordered sleep, and more. It addresses the past, present, and future, so you leave not only having resolved old wounds, but feeling equipped for whatever lies ahead.

Grief doesn't follow a clear path. It arrives in waves; sometimes quiet and heavy, other times sudden and overwhelming, and there is no right way to experience it. Therapy offers a space to speak openly about your loss, honour what mattered, and hold both the pain and the memories. Many people find that grief changes over time, rather than disappears, and it becomes possible to carry it in a way that feels more integrated, while gradually reconnecting with yourself and the parts of life that still hold meaning.
-
Infertility is one of the most isolating and emotionally exhausting experiences a person can face which can be marked by cycles of hope, waiting, and heartbreak. Beyond the physical journey, it can shake your sense of identity, strain relationships, and challenge your vision of the future. The emotional toll is real and often minimized. Therapy provides space to grieve what you imagined, process complex emotions like anger and guilt, and find a sense of agency amid circumstances that can feel entirely out of your control whether you are just beginning to explore options or have been on this path for years.
-
Managing illness and medical complexity requires constant adaptation and resilience. The focus on physical health often leaves emotional needs unmet, yet the psychological impact of illness and medical complexity is profound. Therapy offers a space to process the stress, fatigue, and uncertainty that accompany complex health needs, build emotional resilience, and feel more grounded as you navigate yours or your loved one’s care.
-
OCD involves persistent, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviours or mental rituals (compulsions) that are difficult to control. Even when the cycle feels irrational, the urge to respond can be intense and exhausting, consuming significant time and energy. With the right therapy, it is possible to understand these patterns, reduce their hold, and build greater freedom and flexibility in how you respond, reclaiming confidence and ease in daily life.
-
Parenting can be one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences, but it can also feel overwhelming, exhausting, and full of self-doubt. You may find yourself constantly balancing responsibilities, questioning your decisions, or feeling pulled in multiple directions as you try to meet your child’s needs while caring for your own. Each stage of parenting brings new challenges, from managing behavior and emotions to navigating changing family dynamics. It’s normal to feel frustrated, uncertain, or even isolated at times. Guidance and support can make a meaningful difference as you navigate these challenges. Therapy provides a space to explore your parenting experiences, build confidence in your decisions, and develop approaches that reflect your values, to create a happier, healthier home for your family.
-
A phobia is more than fear. It is an intense, persistent response that can feel completely out of proportion yet entirely beyond your control, shaping the choices you make and the spaces you avoid in order to feel safe. Whether it is a fear of heights, flying, medical procedures, animals, social situations, or something else entirely, the anticipation alone can be enough to trigger significant anxiety, physical symptoms, and a quiet shrinking of your world. Over time, avoidance can become its own burden, limiting your freedom and reinforcing the fear. Therapy offers a compassionate and evidence-based path forward, helping you understand the roots of your fear, gradually build tolerance, and move through the world with greater ease and confidence.
-
Stress and anxiety can show up in many forms such as constant worry, tension, difficulty concentrating, irritability, hypervigilance, or panic. Even people who are otherwise functioning well can feel stuck, unfulfilled, or guilty for struggling. Anxiety affects your thoughts, body, and relationships, and it can be exhausting to manage alone. Therapy offers tools to better understand your experience, develop effective coping strategies, and build a greater sense of calm, confidence, and balance in everyday life.

Trauma can make you feel as if you are stuck on high alert and unable to feel an inner sense of peace. You may experience flashbacks, panic attacks, intrusive thoughts, or nightmares. These negative effects can impact all aspects of your daily living, impacting your sleep, productivity, and ability to stay present at work and with your loved ones.
You may notice physical symptoms such as headaches, body pains, loss of appetite, or nausea emerge as a way of the body and mind coping with the traumatic experience. You may find yourself feeling physically detached or numb from both yourself and others. Despite your best efforts, you may struggle to stay present at work, in your relationships, or daily life. I understand that living through both the physical and emotional aspects of trauma can leave you feeling unable to move forward.
A better quality of life is possible. Trauma therapy will help you regain control of your life. I will help you reconnect to yourself and your relationships so that you can feel present again, experience more joy, peace, and safety. I will help you to better understand trauma and its impact, while helping you develop the skills you need to thrive and not just survive.
